What Defines and Differentiates the Alexander Lesson?

View, Alexander Technique First Lesson with Diana Devitt-Dawson

"The Alexander Technique teaches you how to bring more practical intelligence into what you are already doing. How to eliminate stereotyped responses. How to deal with habit and change. It leaves you free to choose your own goal but gives you a better use of yourself while you work towards it."

Prof. Frank Pierce Jones

Initial Consultation

An initial consultation and lessons is one hour, following lessons are 30 - 40min. It is recommended that lessons be taken as close to one another as possible commencing twice a week then once a week.

After the initial consultation the teacher will be able to advise how many lessons you may require in order to learn how to self-work. A course of 15 - 30 lessons is usually recommended however, this will vary from person to person. Young adults and children require fewer lessons.

Most health funds offer rebates for Alexander Technique lessons from fully qualified Alexander Teachers who are members of the professional society, AUSTAT - Australian Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique. These teachers have undertaken the 1600 hour, three year teacher training course.
